Dual frequency RFID smart card is made of low frequency (LF 125kHz), high frequency (HF 13.56MHz) and ultra high frequency (UHF 860-960MHz). The hybrid dual-frequency card has the advantages of two frequency bands. The card supports short-range 1cm-10cm LF / HF and long-range 1m-10m UHF technologies, while maintaining the multi-application functions and compatibility of the existing infrastructure.

The HF portion of the card works with the existing infrastructure, while allowing the development of latest use cases, so there’s less pressure to have UHF functions ready at the same time as HF functions. The deployment can be done in stages, or it can be expanded as needed, because a single card can be used in any new or old installation. There’s no need to rush to replace HF cards that are already in place, since dual-frequency rfid cards can be part of a heterogeneous system that supports single- and dual-frequency cards.

Application of dual frequency RFID card

Dual-frequency card can work in all the ways of regular smart cards (such as tickets, payment cards, passes), and can be used as an entry point for new services that are only possible with long-range UHF. Dual-frequency contactless smart cards are common in public transportation, building access, event planning and other applications.
